The basics

What is Daily Sanctum?

An app that gives you one piece of the Catholic tradition each day — a saint, a prayer, a word from the Church Fathers, a work of sacred art — with a library behind it: the Prayer Book, the liturgical calendar, and ten sections of reading.

Is it really free?

Yes. The whole app. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, no premium tier, and no trial that ends. Everything in the library is open from the first day.

If you saw prices on this site before, they were out of date — we are sorry for the confusion.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad, from the App Store. There is no Android or web version.

Do I need an account?

No. The app signs you in anonymously the first time you open it, and works straight away. You can create an account later if you want your reflections kept.

What’s in it

What does the library contain?

The Prayer Book — the Rosary, the Divine Office, and the traditional prayers of the Church. The liturgical calendar with feast days and the lives of the saints. And ten reading sections under Learn: Catechesis, Questions, Quotes, History, Sacred Art, Saints, Sacred Music, Symbols & Liturgy, Scripture Explorer, and Eastern Tradition.

Can I pray in Latin?

Many of the traditional prayers carry their original Latin. In Profile → Language you can set Prayer Language to your own language, to Latin, or to both at once — which shows the Latin and the translation together.

Not every prayer has a Latin text. Where one exists, it is there.

Is the app in Spanish?

Fully — the prayers, the saints, the calendar and the reading, from the first screen. It follows your device’s language by default, and you can set it yourself in Profile → Language → App Language. Changing it asks you to restart the app.

Is it for Orthodox Christians?

The app is Catholic first, and that is what the daily piece is drawn from. Alongside it, an Eastern Tradition section holds the prayers and devotions of the Christian East — the Jesus Prayer, the Akathist and others — in their original Greek. In Learn, a filter at the top of the screen switches between Catholic, Orthodox, and what the two traditions share.

There is no global “choose your tradition” setting any more; you filter where you read.

What happened to the habit tracker and the streaks?

They were removed, along with the gratitude journal. They pulled against what the app is for — they turned a prayer life into a number to protect. If you relied on them, that loss is real, and we’re sorry. The reasoning is on the About page.

Using it day to day

How many notifications will I get?

One in the morning, with the day’s piece. You can change the time or turn notifications off entirely in Profile → Notifications.

Can I use it without a connection?

Yes. Content you have already opened stays available, and Profile → Offline Prayer Packs lets you download prayers ahead of time — useful for a retreat, a flight, or anywhere the signal is poor.

Is there a home-screen widget?

Yes. Add it the usual way: press and hold the home screen, tap +, and search for Daily Sanctum. It keeps the day’s piece a glance away.

The app isn’t behaving. What should I try?

1. Make sure you are on the latest version from the App Store.
2. Close the app fully and reopen it.
3. Restart the device.
4. If it persists, tell us — what you did, what happened, and which iPhone or iPad you are on.

Content and corrections

I think a prayer or a text is wrong.

Please tell us. Send the prayer or page and what looks wrong to [email protected]. Corrections of exactly that kind — a missing closing collect, a wrong attribution — have gone into recent releases.

Where does the content come from?

Traditional and public-domain texts, public-domain sacred art, and commentary written for the app. There is more detail on the About page.

Is this an official Church app?

No. Daily Sanctum is independent, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any church, diocese, order, or religious organisation.

Your account and your data

How do I delete my account and my data?

In the app: Profile → Privacy → Delete Account, then confirm. This is permanent and cannot be undone.

What do you collect?

The Privacy Policy sets it out in full. We do not sell your data.
